Short feedback loops
Make focused changes, observe the result, and carry what we learn into the next iteration.
Cyan Trading is a proprietary trading firm focused on providing liquidity in idiosyncratic markets.
Our work brings quantitative research, software engineering, and trading together in a single, iterative process.
Liquidity provision
We add liquidity by offering to buy and sell contracts at competitive prices. That gives other participants more opportunities to trade, reduces friction between buyers and sellers, and helps new information find its way into market prices.
Our systems evaluate changing information, current market conditions, and our existing exposure before placing or updating prices. We aim to provide dependable liquidity while remaining disciplined about the risks we take.
Technology first
We build the infrastructure behind our trading end to end: data collection, research tools, pricing systems, execution, monitoring, and review. Owning that stack lets us move from an observation to a tested improvement quickly.
Technology gives us speed, consistency, and the ability to learn from every decision. We favor systems that are observable and easy to reason about, because performance only matters when it can be understood and trusted.
Automation handles repeatable work. People remain responsible for defining the problem, challenging assumptions, and deciding how much risk is appropriate.
Our philosophy
Markets are an unforgiving source of feedback. We treat that as an advantage. Instead of protecting old ideas, we compare expectations with outcomes and update our view when the evidence changes.
Make focused changes, observe the result, and carry what we learn into the next iteration.
Prefer the simplest explanation and system that can withstand real-world evidence.
Build controls and accountability into the work from the beginning.
